Project Description:

Located on Firetrail Road just off of Gladstone Road, the recently completed Arawak Port Development Company Hired CGT to design and build their new Gladstone Freight Terminal where all break bulk and less than container load shipments are sent from the port for processing.
The freight terminal consists of 90,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, divided into 10 equal bays for leasing to shipping companies and a 10,000 sq.ft. Administration Building containing offices for the Customs Department, APD executive, Media and Conference Rooms, a small police detail as well as bulletproof cashier facilities and secure pass-throughs for armored car pick-up and drop-off. The facility is also supported by a fully automatic 900 kW generator and 22,000 gallon fuel tank capable of powering the terminal for at least 1 week in the event of catastrophic grid power failure.
The project was built using site-cast concrete tilt-panels with a steel support frame and roof. This enabled completion of the entire warehouse space in little more than 6 months for tenant fit-out and subsequently the adjacent Administration Building and remaining site work were completed in the following 5 months for a total duration of 11 ½ months.
